Detailed introduction
In response to the intensified eccentric wear and significantly shortened pump inspection cycles experienced by some oil wells in the middle and late stages of development, the No. 5 Oil Production Plant of the Huabei Oilfield has actively introduced the Comprehensive Sucker Rod Protector for trials. As of March 22, this device has been successfully applied in two wells, Jin94-7X and Ze37-3X, providing a new approach and ideas for solving the difficult problem of oil well eccentric wear management.
The working principle of the Comprehensive Sucker Rod Protector is to utilize the alternating load that occurs in every cycle during the reciprocating motion of the pumping jack. An elastic energy storage device stores the mechanical energy released by the pumping jack. Then, through a one-way rotational device, the stored energy is released to induce a slight rotation of the sucker rod. This causes the wear on the sucker rod and the tubing to spread over 360 degrees, turning the fixed-point wear into circumferential wear, thereby significantly prolonging the lifespan of the sucker rod and the tubing and achieving the goal of extending the oil well's pump inspection cycle. After the application of this device, wells Jin94-7X and Ze37-3X have continued production for 180 days and 145 days, respectively, with ongoing effectiveness, far exceeding their original average pump inspection cycles of 84 days and 109 days.
